Bathroom Faucet Repair in Mukilteo: A Hallway Faucet in Harbour Pointe That Would Not Stop Running

A worn two-handle lavatory faucet at the south end of Harbour Pointe, replaced with a Moen widespread and tested three ways in October 2025

Location: South Harbour Pointe, Mukilteo, WA
Service: Bathroom faucet replacement
Technicians: Logan & Connor

In October 2025 a homeowner at the south end of Harbour Pointe called about the two-handle faucet in the hallway bathroom. It ran constantly, no matter how the handles were set. Logan and Connor looked at it that afternoon, and rather than chase parts for a worn widespread, the homeowner chose a new faucet, which went in two days later.

What We Did

Oil-rubbed bronze two-handle widespread bathroom faucet on a granite vanity top above a white rectangular undermount sink, before replacement
The original widespread faucet in the hallway bathroom at the south end of Harbour Pointe. It ran whether the handles were open or closed.

The first visit was short. A widespread faucet keeps its valve body under the counter, with the spout and handles mounted separately through the deck, and when one of this age runs constantly the seats and stems are worn together. Rebuilding it means pulling the handles and often the valve body, and parts for a discontinued finish are not always to be had. Logan and Connor laid out both options, and the homeowner picked a Moen Eva two-handle high-arc widespread in chrome with its own rough-in valve.

Two days later Connor and Logan were back. The old faucet, its valve body and the pop-up drain came out, the new rough-in valve went in under the deck, and the Eva spout, handles and drain were set on top.

The new Moen Eva widespread during its fill test, with the sink held full for five minutes to check every drain joint below.

Then came the testing, which is the part that matters. Three running dump tests pushed a full basin through the new pop-up and trap. The sink was then filled and left standing for five minutes so any weeping drain joint would show, and every water connection under the counter was checked with the supplies open. Nothing moved, and the faucet shut off completely.

Why It Matters

  • A running faucet is a water bill. Mukilteo meters Everett’s Spada Lake water, and a lavatory faucet that never fully shuts off runs around the clock, which adds up long before anyone notices a drip.
  • Widespread means the valve is under the counter. Repairing an old widespread is more than a cartridge swap, so once the finish is discontinued a new faucet is often the more honest recommendation.
  • A new faucet means a new drain. The pop-up assembly comes with the faucet, so every joint below the sink is new too, and that is why we test the drain as carefully as the supply.

Why Harbour Pointe

Harbour Pointe was built out from the late 1980s through the 1990s, and the widespread faucets that went into those bathrooms are now at the age where seats and stems wear and parts go out of production together. Our shop is on 5th Street in Old Town, about ten minutes up the Speedway, which is why a call that came in one afternoon was seen that afternoon.
