Clearing a Tough Drain Clog in Everett

By Stollwerck PlumbingMay 12, 2026

When a clog won’t quit, neither do we

Location: Everett, WA
Service: Drain cleaning
Customer: Dan S.
Crew: Chase and Willy

Not every clog gives up easy. An Everett homeowner recently called us with a drain that just wouldn’t clear — the kind of stubborn blockage that can make you wonder if you’ll ever use that drain again.

Chase and Willy headed out, assessed the situation, and got to work. When the first approach didn’t break through, they didn’t pack up and leave. They switched tactics, kept at it, and cleared the line completely.

What Dan Had to Say

“Chase and Willy cleared a tough clog. They didn’t give up and persevered through and cleaned up really nice.”

— Dan S., Everett

That’s the job. Some clogs are straightforward — 10 minutes and you’re done. Others fight back. The difference is whether your plumber sticks with it or tells you it’s “not possible” and hands you a bill anyway.

What Causes Stubborn Clogs?

Most drain clogs are just buildup — grease, hair, soap scum. A cable or snake clears them quickly. But some clogs are tougher:

  • Compacted grease — years of cooking oil and fat hardened in the line
  • Root intrusion — tree roots growing into older clay or cast iron pipes
  • Collapsed or offset pipe — the line itself is damaged, trapping debris
  • Foreign objects — toys, wipes, or other items that shouldn’t be in the drain
  • Mineral scale — calcium and lime deposits narrowing the pipe

When a standard snake doesn’t cut it, we have other options: hydro jetting to scour the line clean, or a sewer camera inspection to see exactly what we’re dealing with.

We Clean Up After Ourselves

Drain work can get messy. We don’t leave that mess for you — cleaning up the work area is part of the job. Dan noticed, and we appreciate him mentioning it. That’s the standard, not the exception.

Got a Drain That Won’t Clear?

If you’ve tried Drano, a plunger, and maybe even a cheap drain snake from the hardware store — and the clog is still there — it’s time to call in the pros. We serve Everett and all of Snohomish County, and we don’t give up on tough clogs.
